Our City took the first step—the first of many—with the groundbreaking for our new City Hall and Town Center on August 13, 2007. Local dignitaries, friends and neighbors joined us as we celebrated the event with an eye on the projected completion of December 2008.
Our goal is to generate and revive the “community spirit” and our new City Hall will be the foundation for such a feat. With pride, current and future residents will be able to say as Mayor Kelley so aptly put it, “This is my town; this is where I live.”
Update, February 13, 2008
In the past weeks JTV General Contractors have taken fundamental steps in the construction of our New City Hall. The foundation has been poured, and the many truck loads of steel that were hauled in November will soon be set. The building structure will contain 200 tons of red iron and over 6 and 1/2 million pounds of concrete.
The next few weeks will be exciting for our community as the outline of the building frame takes shape. Look for work to commence on the Town Green consisting of a water feature and walking tract, that will serve as a focal point of this development located at the base of the bridge directly in front of our New City Hall on East Atlanta Road. We are anticipating a beautiful state-of-art functional City Hall and Town Center that will be a credit to all residents in the City of Stockbridge.
