PRESS RELEASE ANNOUNCING A PROPOSED

PROPERTY TAX INCREASE

The Henry County Board of Commissioners has tentatively adopted a millage rate, which will require an increase in property taxes by:

County Unincorporated          8.95 % increase
McDonough                            7.60 % increase
Stockbridge                            8.64 % increase
Hampton                                 10.23 % increase
Locust Grove                          6.70 % increase

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this increase to be held at the County Administration Building, 140 Henry Parkway, McDonough, GA on July 20, 2016 @ 9:30 a.m.  and 6:30 p.m.  Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are at the County Administration Building, 140 Henry Parkway, McDonough, GA on July 27 2016 @ 9:30 a.m.

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 13.873 mills for County Unincorporated; 11.405 mills for McDonough; 13.873 mills for Stockbridge; 11.987 mills for Hampton and 11.967 mills for Locust Grove.  Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 12.733 mills for County Unincorporated; 10.599 mills for McDonough; 12.770 mills for Stockbridge; 10.875 mills for Hampton; 11.216 mills for Locust Grove.  The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $125,000 is $39.90 for the County Unincorporated; $28.21 for McDonough; $38.61 for Stockbridge; $38.92 for Hampton and $26.29 for Locust Grove and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $325,000 is approximately $148.20 for County Unincorporated; $104.78 for McDonough; $143.39 for Stockbridge; $144.56 for Hampton and $97.63 for Locust Grove.
