African-American History Month City Proclamation, and Letters of Commendation presented to Commissioner Bruce Holmes and Karina Patel of Eagles Landing High School.
1) Henry County 5th District Commissioner, Bruce Holmes, was commended for his vision and commitment to North Henry County.  As one of the most visible leaders in the African-American community, Commissioner Holmes continues to create and grove opportunities in the 5th District.

2) WHEREAS, February 2017 is proclaimed as African-American Month in the City of Stockbridge. Known today as the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, the group sponsored a national Negro week in 1926, choosing the second week of February to coincide with the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass; and the event inspired schools and communities nationwide to organize local celebrations, establish history clubs and host performances and lectures; and the achievements and contributions African Americans have made and continue to make are an integral part of our society.

3) Karina Patel of Eagle's Landing High School was commended for being recognized in excelling in the community. Congratulations on your nomination by U.S. Congressman David Scott to the United States Naval Academy. We are all proud of your outstanding accomplishments and wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors.
