Stockbridge is Ready for Irma!

The Stockbridge Mayor and City Council want the public to know the city’s first responders are prepared for Irma.  The Stockbridge Public Works Department is prepared and on standby.   Capt. Jason Bolton, Henry County P.D. Post Commander in Stockbridge, confirmed that Henry County Police Department is also ready. Officers will be on 12-hour shifts during this challenging emergency. The Stockbridge 9/11 Cermony Event has been cancelled. The 6:00 PM. City Council meeting is still scheduled pending updated weather reports. It is still to be determined and posted on WSB-TV early Monday morning if city offices will be closed. The public will be further advised should Tuesday come into play also.

Local residents are being asked to make their own preparations as recommended by Georgia Emergency Management (GEMA.)  Please go to the GEMA website for a recommended preparation list.  Additional suggestions include having $100 in dollar bills, as it may be difficult for store owners and service providers to change large bills during an emergency.

We are confident our many wonderful Stockbridge businesses, churches and citizens are extending a gracious welcome and support to evacuees.  Whether donating products or money to support those in crisis from both Harvey and Irma, it is indeed an opportunity for us all to show the world that Stockbridge cares.
