 Stockbridge Leadership Receives Special Recognition 

STOCKBRIDGE, GEORGIA- February 9, 2018--- Leaders for the City of Stockbridge have received special recognition. Mayor Anthony S. Ford, Mayor Pro Tem LaKeisha Gantt, Councilman Elton Alexander, Councilman John Blount and Councilwoman Neat Robinson all received recognition by the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute during the Georgia Municipal Association’s (GMA) Mayors’ Day conference in Atlanta recently. 

 Mayor Anthony S. Ford received the Certificate of Distinction from the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute by completing 204 or more hours of training, including at least 72 hours from the required list, the Newly Elected Officials Institute and the Robert E. Knox, Jr. Municipal Leadership Institute. Both Mayor Pro Tem Lakeisha Gantt and Councilwoman Neat Robinson received the Certificate of Excellence from the Harold F. Holtz  Municipal Training Institute. To receive a Certificate of Excellence, a city official must complete a minimum of 120 units of credit, including at least 54 hours from a list of required classes. The training program consists of a series of more than 60 courses. 

Councilman Elton Alexander, Councilman John Blount and Councilwoman Neat Robinson all received Certificates of Completion from the Robert E. Knox, Jr. Municipal Leadership Institute. The Robert E. Knox, Jr. Municipal Leadership Institute is an intensive multi-day seminar that focuses on helping city officials enhance and sharpen their leadership skills. Facilitated in part by a nationally recognized training development consultant, the Leadership Institute includes an interactive simulation exercise that confronts participants with the daily problems of governing and ultimately demonstrates the necessity of communication and collaboration in achieving good governance. 

Based in Atlanta,  the Georgia Municipal Association is a voluntary, non-profit organization that provides legislative advocacy, research, training, employee benefit and technical consulting services to its 521 member cities. The Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute, a cooperative effort of GMA and the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government, provides a nationally recognized series of training opportunities for city officials.
