Stockbridge Celebrates Dr. Seuss Week

The City of Stockbridge is excited to celebrate Dr. Seuss Week for February 27 through March 2, 2018 with a focus on literacy. Stockbridge Elementary School extended an invitation to Stockbridge Leadership to read books written by Dr. Seuss in honor of his birthday which is internationally recognized on Friday, March 2, 2018.

Stockbridge Celebrates Dr. Seuss Week 

  

STOCKBRIDGE, GEORGIA- March 1, 2018--- The City of Stockbridge is excited to celebrate Dr. Seuss Week for February 27 through March 2, 2018 with a focus on literacy. Stockbridge Elementary School extended an invitation to Stockbridge Leadership to read books written by Dr. Seuss in honor of his birthday which is internationally recognized on Friday, March 2, 2018. 

 

Theodor Seuss Geisel was an American author, political cartoonist, poet, animator, book publisher and artist. He is best known for authoring more than 60 children's books under the pen name Dr. Seuss. His works include some of the most popular and recognizable children's books of all time. Dr. Seuss' books have sold over 600 million copies. By the time of his death, the author's books had been translated into more than 20 languages. 

 

"It's an absolute honor to have our local leadership participate with our efforts. The students were thrilled to have visitors for our Dr. Seuss Week," said Stockbridge Elementary School Principal Cynthia S. Jewell. The City of Stockbridge has partnered with Stockbridge Elementary School for various initiatives over the years. Community engagement is vital to Stockbridge's vision. 

 

Stockbridge will celebrate 100 years of cityhood in 2020. The City of Stockbridge continues to strive to be the most progressive business and family oriented community in Metropolitan Atlanta with a strong focus on enhanced quality of life initiatives which promote a sustainable "live, work, play" environment. The City of Stockbridge believes that people are the most valuable asset in delivering services to all citizens.
