Councilman John Blount

Councilman John Blount is an innovative small business owner.  He is a licensed and ordained Minister and serves as an Associate Minister at Global Impact Christian Ministries in Stockbridge Georgia.

John attended DeKalb College South in conjunction with the University of GA in the areas of military science.  He later received a Bachelor of Theology from Seed Faith School of Ministry in 2009 and was also ordained and licensed as a Minister in the same year. 

John has been a servant of others for 36 years. John  credits his mother (Lois Hines) for teaching him the value of serving others at an early age. As early as 16 years old, he and his brother Charles received the highest honors ever given to volunteers for hours served at Southwest Hospital in Atlanta. Furthermore, some of his achievements include the creation of a youth program (Youth in Christ), Missionary work (out of the country) with Word Alive headed by Rev. Jackie McCullough and he has headed Aftercare programs for the YMCA in Atlanta. He also volunteers for various programs throughout the city of Stockbridge including but not limited to the Assisted Living facility at Laurel Park, Feed the Hungry and the Veterans Day Parade, just to name a few.

John sought the position of City Councilman to assist in achieving goals to improve and to build in various areas that will benefit the citizens of Stockbridge, such as, being good stewards of the city’s finances, economic development, programs for early childhood development, and programs for the youth and senior citizens. He believes that so much can be achieved when we work together.

Councilman John Blount has been recognized by the Lambda Sigma Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and awarded the 2018 for his commitment to making a difference in the community.

Councilman John Blount is the only Stockbridge elected city official to complete FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Training) at the National Training Academy in Emmitsburg, MD led by the nation’s top Homeland Security experts.

Councilman John Blount has received the distinguished Certificate of Recognition, Certificate of Achievement and the Certificate of Excellence from the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute. These special recognitions highlight the efforts made to gain expertise in government operations and affairs. The Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute, a cooperative effort of GMA and the University of Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute of Government, provides a nationally recognized series of training opportunities for city officials.  

John Blount along with his wife Mary Jo have resided in Stockbridge Georgia for 13 years. They have four children (Tamika, Chris, Jennifer, and Jessica). He believes that God’s greatest gift in life is life itself and that God’s sole purpose for us on this journey is to serve others.
